Private Quaker College Preparatory Day School - Preschool to Grade 12 Abington Friends is the only school in the nation located on the same grounds and operating under the same management since its beginnings more than 300 years ago. Founded by Quakers, this college preparatory day school, enrolling 740 students in Preschool–Grade 12, emphasizes intellectual challenges, character development, interdisciplinary and intercultural studies, the arts, and moral, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Lower School students learn to appreciate another culture through Spanish class, hone skills in reading and writing, and research, experiment, and solve problems in math and science courses. Middle and Upper School students prepare for future education by taking required core classes and studying specific topics through electives. An average class has 13–15 students. Ten sports teams, dance, orchestra, chorus, drama, and computer centers with high-speed Internet access enhance the curriculum. Community service is required, and foreign travel/study is encouraged. Extended-day and summer programs are offered. Tuition: $13,500–$21,900. Financial aid is available. Marnie Christian is Director of Admissions; Richard F. Nourie (Harvard Graduate School of Education, Ed.M.) is Head of School.
