 Private College Preparatory Day School - Grades 5 to 12 The Altamont School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school enrolling approximately 400 students in Grades 5–12. The School encourages students to think critically, communicate truthfully, and live honorably. The ultimate goal is the development of creative and imaginative students who are self-disciplined, honest, and hard-working and who also have a concern for making themselves useful citizens. All students take courses that follow a traditional liberal arts curriculum, and electives include Creative Writing, Photography, forensics, studio art, film making, instrument and choral music, Scholars Bowl, aerobics, and yoga. Students may take part in 25 athletic teams, orchestra, drama, school government, National Honor Society, publications, and environmental, history, music, French, Spanish, Latin, and science clubs. Community service at local organizations and Fall Project Week, during which students take field trips in the U.S. and abroad, also enhance the academic program.
